Twigs, Moss & Funky Blooms: Mother's Day Floral Gifts with a difference

Surprise your mum this Mother's Day by creating a spectacular floral arrangement with a little help from floral designer Camelia Austen. Join Camelia for a demonstration on 'Mother's Day Floral Gifts with a difference' at Powerscourt Garden Pavilion in Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow on 6th March at 10.30am.

Camelia will be using seasonal flowers and hedge and country finds to create fresh flower arrangements which are sure to inspire any budding flower arranger! Arrangements will include a floral handbag, a continental bouquet with celosia and ivy, a strawberry ‘torte’ and a pink topiary ‘tree’. Flowers featured include roses, lilies and hydrangeas for a glamorous touch while natural materials such as birch, moss, twigs and stones add a rustic feel and help keep costs down when guests are re-creating at home. Camelia is the floral designer behind Austen Flowers Events & Flower School in Wicklow town. After a stint in trend-setting Appassionata Flowers (designing and running corporate accounts, high profile weddings and large events), Camelia opened her flower studio on the South Quay in Wicklow together with her husband Tim Austen, the garden designer. Austen Flowers studio is not a traditional florist shop, they specialise in weddings and events and flower arranging classes. By using unexpected colour combinations and unusual props, their designs challenge the notion of a ‘floral arrangement’. They bend the rules of traditional flower arranging to create stunning bouquets and bold and large floral decor with the utmost respect for the flowers themselves.
